What You Should Do To Your Hair Right After Your Relaxer Service
What you should do to your hair right after your relaxer service
After a relaxer service, it is important to have a healthy routine that helps the hair to remain strong and healthy. As of right now, I am one week post relaxer (post relaxer simply means that one week has past since my last relaxer). At one week post, I like to pull out the necessary treatments for my hair.
healthy relaxed hair
First, I start with a pre poo. All of the products I use are included in the by L. Jones line. I use the Prepoo Hair Mud Mask. This mud mask has amino acids which help strengthen the hair and also help promote hair growth. In addition, it softens the hair and helps with moisture. I typically wet my hair first with hot water, towel dry, then apply the mud mask generously. Next, I apply a plastic cap and let it sit for 45 minutes to an hour (sometimes longer depending on what I'm doing).
Next, I shampoo with a deep cleansing shampoo (Extreme Clean) which removes all dirt, oil, and residue from the hair. Deep cleansing shampoos help you to start with a clean slate and allow you to add the moisture to your hair in layers. After the deep cleansing shampoo, I then use the Honey Oat Moisture shampoo because it is a moisturizing shampoo that is infused with protein. Protein helps give the hair strength and can prevent and/or stop excess shedding and breakage.
Lastly, I do a complete reconstructive treatment by using the Creamy Custard Reconstructive treatment. This treatment includes protein and moisture so it not only makes the hair stronger, but also adds moisture as well. Once I rinse the reconstructive treatment out, I apply the Vanilla Milk Leave-In Conditioner, comb it through the hair, and sit under the hooded dryer for my hair to dry, then style.
All of these steps are important to help keep relaxed hair healthy from the root all the way to the tip. Developing a regimen for your relaxed hair is critical for your relaxed hair journey. If you are unsure about what to do for your hair on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, I have something for you! The Relaxed Hair Journal is a journal that I created for relaxed women where I outline a routine just for your hair. Once you are more consistent with your hair care routine, you'll notice a drastic change in the healthiness of your hair. When you take care of your hair, it will take care of you!
