How To Choose The Perfect Hair Care Routine

How To Choose The Perfect Hair Care Routine

When it comes to your hair, having the right routine for yourself is important. Your hair care routine will be different from that of others because everyone's hair is different. Not only will the products be different, but your hair care routine may also vary as the seasons change. When choosing the perfect hair care routine for you, it is important that you understand what your hair needs. Today I will be discussing how to choose the perfect hair care routine.

the perfect hair care routine

Dry Hair- First we will customize a hair care routine for those of you that have dry hair. If your hair is dry, that means that it is lacking moisture. The first thing to determine is if the moisture you are lacking is internal, meaning does your entire body lack moisture (water), and as a result your hair is suffering? Water is the number one hydrator as over 75% of our bodies are water. If you are not drinking enough water on a daily basis you will notice that not only your hair but your skin as well is also dry. One way to tell that your body is lacking water is if you are constantly putting moisturizers and grease on your hair and your hair seems to suck it all up yet still look dry. That is a clear indicator that your body is not getting enough water. I know that most of you will say that water is all you drink, I have heard that plenty of times, especially from my clients. What I am talking about is drinking at least a gallon of water or more DAILY. Yes, every.single.day! If you are not drinking a minimum of one gallon of water per day, this is where you need to start. Do this immediately and I guarantee that after one week, you will be able to notice a difference in your entire body, including your hair. I have done this myself, so I know for a fact that it works.

If you drink enough water on a daily basis but you still feel like your hair is dry,
then it is time to look at your hair products. For dry hair, you should be using moisturizing products. You should use a moisturizing shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner.  Depending on how dry your hair is, you can also use a leave-in conditioner. I always use leave in because I like to have that extra layer of moisture on my hair. You may also even use oil (sparingly as needed), not grease (see why here). Silk Hydration by L. Jones has some excellent moisturizing products to help keep your hair hydrated. Using the wrong products on already dry hair will only dry it out even more. And dry hair leads to brittle hair. Brittle hair leads to hair that breaks. No one wants their hair to break!

Oily Hair- I personally fall into this category. Having oily hair is normally the result of your sebaceous glands producing more oil than average. As a result the hair begins to look oily within one week after shampooing. This is why I like to shampoo my hair once per week. The maximum I can go is ten days. If your hair falls into this category it is imperative that you get your hands on a great clarifying shampoo. The Silk Hydration Extreme Clean Clarifying Shampoo is awesome because it is sulfate free and paraben free yet still gets your hair to that "squeaky clean" feeling so that you can then add your own moisture back in. I use this every time I shampoo my hair, it is an absolute must for my oily hair. After using a clarifying shampoo, then you can use a lightweight conditioner. The Replenishing Conditioner in the Silk Hydration line only requires using about a dime size amount to moisturize the hair. It is not heavily concentrated because oily hair will begin making its own oil in a matter of a few days and you definitely do not want excessive product build up on top of excessive natural oils. If your hair is extremely oily, you can skip the cream conditioner altogether and use the leave-in conditioner instead. The Silk Hydration leave-in conditioner is not a cream, but comes in a spray bottle making it extremely lightweight. So your hair can still be conditioned without having too much product in it. No extra oil is needed because your hair makes is own natural oils very quickly.

Now that you know what you need for your hair, you can choose your own hair care routine that is perfect just for you! Be sure to order your Silk Hydration products and let me know what you think!
