Silk Press For Kids

This client was a cute little five year old.  She was extremely nervous about getting her hair silk pressed because her mother attempted to have it done before by another stylist and it turned out to be a very bad experience for her.  So bad in fact that her mom did not let the stylist finish because she was hurting the baby so bad.  So now her mother wanted to try again, in hopes of having a great experience this time.  This little one was not sure what to expect so of course she was expecting the worst because of her previous experience.  I always tell mothers that I will do a child's hair provided that they will sit in the chair without kicking and screaming.  I try to be as gentle as I possibly can but if they are extremely tender headed I encourage the mom to wait a little bit longer.  This little one was excellent so I was determined to make her look even more beautiful that she already was!

When she first came in, her hair was in ponytails.  I took them down, combed them out, then shampooed with Silk Hydration by L. Jones Clarifying Shampoo.  Next I shampooed with Silk Hydration by L. Jones Extreme Moisture Shampoo.  I followed that by applying Silk Hydration by L. Jones Intense Moisturizing Treatment to the hair.  I allowed it to sit while I detangled her hair as it made detangling a lot easier.  Once I did that I rinsed it completely out, then saturated the hair with Silk Hydration by L. Jones Leave-In Conditioner and began the blow out process.

After I got all of the hair blown dry, I then went ahead and clipped the ends because I could see exactly where the split parts were.  Next was the easy part of pressing it with the flat iron.  I only flat ironed each piece of hair one time to ensure no heat damage occurs.

And this is the finished product!  After it was all said and done, this little one said she wants to come back!  I guess that means she enjoyed her experience this time around.  So I guess its safe to say that my job was done!  To maintain it her mother can wrap it up for as long as she wants to let her wear it down.  When she wants to put it back in ponytails again, it will be much easier to do.  It will go back to its curly state when it gets wet again.
