Dandruff can be such a pesky and annoying problem to have. Especially when a lot of your wardrobe consists of black clothes! Today I'm going to explain how to get rid of your dandruff once and for all! Let's jump right in..
First I need to give a little disclaimer. If you have have very excessive dandruff that appears to be large flakes or waxy in substance you should consult your dermatologist first. This could be eczema or psoriasis and needs to be treated by a professional immediately. Using what is/will be prescribed to you often will clear up the problem.
On the other hand, if you have mild to moderate flaking that is mostly small flakes you have a classic case of dandruff. In this case, I can help you solve that problem if you follow these steps.
- Shampoo your hair weekly- This may not be good news to some of you but trust me it really works. Shampooing your hair weekly will drastically reduce the dandruff you have if it doesn't get rid of it altogether.
- Use a dandruff shampoo- This is also an essential part of controlling your dandruff. If you can find it, I recommend using Nizoral. It used to be prescription only, then went to over the counter, but lately I haven't seen it on the shelf anymore at any of the stores I've been going to so it may may have gone back to prescription only. You could also try ordering it. All I know is shampooing with this weekly will get rid of that flaking.
- Drink more water- Not all dandruff is caused by a dry scalp however, if dry scalp is the reason for your flakes your skin is more than likely dry as well. Drink at least 48-64 ounces of water daily. I know first hand that this will help your scalp as well as the rest of your body become more nourished.
That's it! If you do those three simple things weekly you will see your dandruff drastically decrease if not make it go away completely. And a little secret to using the dandruff shampoo is to do exactly as the directions say! Most require you to let it sit for a little while on the second shampoo. Whatever they directions say, do it! You can't say it doesn't work if you aren't willing to follow manufacturer instructions.
