So, last weekend I got the opportunity to do something amazing. Celebrity fashion stylist Shun Melson was in town doing a fashion show along with two other stylists and needed more hairstylists and makeup artists to help her vision come together. I was one of the hairstylists selected! It was a great experience for many reasons, one being that the fashion show was actually taking place at my church for the Tasha Cobbs iLead Escape conference. Second, I got to see first hand what it was like to work behind the scenes of a real live fashion show. Third, I got to do what I love to do which is hair! I swear when I am working, it does not feel like work at all!
The day started very early for me. I had a full day in the salon with my clients (first client came at 7am) and as soon as I got off around 4pm I had to get to the church by 4:30pm. The show did not actually start until 10:30pm so we had a lot of prepping to do.
This is one of the models that I styled. Shun wanted her to have a pin curl style but did not want anything neat. She wanted messy, but still stylish hair. So I pin curled this model all over, let the curls cool off, then styled. After I got done her hair was looking so neat so I took my hands rubbed them through her hair trying to purposely mess it up.
