How To Maintain Your Short Hairstyle

Short hairstyles get a lot of backlash due to the fact that they are thought to be high maintenance.  Many women think that if they cut their hair short, they have to always keep it done for it to look right as they can no longer opt for the typical "bad hair day" styles like the ponytail and bun.  Well I somewhat disagree with that.  Although it is true that
ponytails and buns are out for short hairstyle wearers, maintaining it is much easier than you think.

If your hair is shaved or tapered in the back and on the sides, all you need to do at night is put on your wrap cap.  A wrap cap is the cap that is open in the top and has the velcro closure.  Apply your wrap cap around the shaved or tapered part in the back of your head and around the sides.  That way, you can sleep comfortably on your back or on either side without messing the style up.  For extra security, you can also get a second wrap cap that is satin and apply that on top of the first one.  This will prevent any slippage or movement, which will keep your wrap cap from ending up on the floor the next morning. The next day, simply take off your wrap cap(s), apply some holding spray and a little Miracle Potion no.9 for shine, and voila!

For styles that are not quite shaved in the back and sides but are still short, you would be able to semi-wrap your hair.

You would part your hair from ear to ear.  All of the hair that is in the front, brush over to your side of choice. I recommend brushing it to the side that your hair hangs down on. For example, if your hair hangs coming to the left side of your face, semi wrap your hair by brushing to the left and vice versa for the right side.  The hair in the back is most likely to short to wrap around, so you would just brush this hair straight down. Next, you would apply your wrap cap(s), but remember, the wrap caps leave the top of the head exposed.  So after you apply these, put on your satin scarf.  The next morning simply comb the hair back into its style. Easy-peasy!

So don't let short hair scare you.  If its something you want to try, go for it! With these tips, you will be able to maintain your look in between your salon visits.  Until next time.....
