How To Get Your Hair Cut But Still Keep Your Length

I know there are many women out there who have long hair and want a change from just wearing it straight all of the time but still want their hair fairly long.  The reason I know this is because many of my clients do this all of the time. They ask me for a hair cut, but then say they still want long hair.  In other words, cut it but do not cut it.  Sounds funny but I get it.  An easy way to try a cut without the cut being so drastic is to try layers.

This client wanted to keep her hair long but wanted something more jazzy to spice it up.  Layers are perfect because they still give her length.  This way she can change up her style as she pleases.  If she wants to go back to the straight look she can flat iron it straight down and give the illusion that it has not been cut.

I used Silk Hydration by L. Jones products on her hair and did not use any oil.  People often ask me what do they need to put on their hair because no matter what they put on it, it always seems to look dry.  My answer is that when you use quality products the moisture you need is already included so you do not need to use extra things like grease and tons of oil.  Oil is ok to use sparingly an an enhancer but it should not be your primary source of moisture.

For maintenance she can still wrap her hair like she would regularly do.  Her layers will fall back into place once she unwraps it.

Layers are one of my favorite styles.  When done right they look absolutely beautiful and still let you enjoy long hair!

  1. I think it is actually the opposite. Layered hair looks shorter. I think blunt ends makes you hair look longer.
