Toya's Tips: How To Use Heat Safely

Many women get concerned when it comes to putting heat in their hair.  They do not like to put any heat in it at all, not even by blow drying the hair.  Majority of the time, it is because they have experienced some type of damage from too much heat and as a result, they just give up all heat altogether.  You do not have to do this! I always say everything in moderation.  Too much of anything can be bad for us, including heat usage on the hair.

Check out this video where I explain this further:

Here are my personal tips for using heat on the hair:

  1. Always use heat tools (flat irons, curling irons, curling wands, etc.) that have an adjustable temperature gauge on them.
  2. Always use the heat tool on the lowest setting that your hair will allow.
  3. Never put the heat tool on the highest setting.
  4. Only use heat in your hair once per week.
  5. Use blow dryers on the warm setting instead of hot.
  6. Only curl each section of hair once instead of flat ironing or curling the same piece of hair over and over to get the desired look.
Following these tips will drastically reduce your chances of heat damage!
