Freshly Relaxed Healthy Hair & Layers

This client came in for the first time today.  She wanted a relaxer touch up and her hair to be cut into long layers.  She really did need it cut, because she has not had her hair trimmed in over a year!  I wanted to take a before picture because I just knew her hair was going to be pretty when she got finished.  As you can see, her hair is very thick.  It has been at least two months since her last relaxer.  I started by basing her scalp really well then applying the relaxer to her new growth only.

I did not use Silk Hydration by L. Jones shampoo or conditioner on her (except for the leave-in) because when getting relaxers it is very important to use neutralizing shampoo and reconstructing conditioner.  After doing all of that I did use the Silk Hydration by L. Jones Leave-In Conditioner to help add an extra layer of moisture to the hair.  After placing her under the dryer and letting her hair dry I then cut it into the layers.

Here is the end result of her layering experience.

She was very happy with her hair, and started swinging it and everything once she got up.  That was my sign that my job was done!

The only thing she will need to do with it when she gets home is wrap every night.  No heat needed until she shampoos her hair again.

  1. I've always loved layers but have been too chicken to get them. Your client's hair turned out great.
